![]() | EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP: The District provides funding to educators from Manchester College's Koinonia Environmental and Retreat Center for planning, designing and delivering solid waste reduction education programs. School classroom and other activities are also available through the partnership. Activities are geared to all learning levels and are correlated to the Indiana Department of Education Standards in all disciplines. Major solid waste reduction topics covered are:

| Teachers....do you need Holiday craft ideas for your classroom? Contact us for some great craft instructions and patterns...or better yet, book a Holiday craft session with the Education Partners! The craft ideas were featured in the Reusing and Recycling Ideas for the Elementary Classroom workshop session that the Education Partners conducted at the 2002 HASTI Annual Convention in Indianapolis. Teachers from all over Indiana enjoyed the session and took many creative ideas home to their schools. |
2001 Governor's Award for Excellence in RecyclingThe Wabash County Solid Waste Management District was awarded the 2001 Governor's Award for Excellence in Recycling in the Education Category. The District was honored for their Education Partnership with Manchester College at the 12th Annual Indiana Recycling Coalition Conference in Merrillville, Indiana, on May 7, 2001. Creativity, innovation and continuous improvement are hallmarks of the Education Partnership. During the 1999-2000 school year, the Partnership increased the percentage of Wabash County elementary school students who received the District message from 36% to 83%. In the 2000-01 school year, 100% of Wabash County elementary school classes participated in Education Partnership activities. |
| Our Educator Support Grant provides funding for Wabash County, Indiana, schools to implement projects that teach reducing waste. Contact us to find out more about this funding opportunity. Indiana Recycles - Indiana Recycle Grants and Loans are available for recycled product purchase, recycled product marketing, and innovations grants.
